COVID-19 postponed elective surgeries. Manatee Memorial Hospital is ready to resume

Manatee Memorial Hospital is ready to resume scheduling elective surgeries following Gov. Ron DeSantis’ announcement that Florida will reopen in phases.

Effective immediately, the hospital is working with physicians and patients to reschedule surgeries that had been postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a news release.

“Our top priority is to ensure that we are providing a safe, quality experience for patients where they can feel protected during their hospitalization,” MMH CEO Kevin DiLallo said in a statement.

Patients are encouraged to contact their surgeon or physician for more information.

“To give patients greater peace of mind, the hospital implemented additional safety protocols that include: screening temperature checks and health questions being asked at entry points before anyone is allowed enter the hospital; deep cleaning and disinfection; suspended visitation; as well as practicing appropriate social distancing,” DiLallo said.

“Our enhanced cleaning and sanitizing protocols also include the use of UV light sterilizations, as a further method of disinfection,” he continued.
