More drive-thru COVID-19 testing coming to Manatee County this week
The Florida Department of Health in Manatee County will offer another round of drive-thru specimen collections for COVID-19 testing in Palmetto this week.
The patient samples will be collected from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday through Friday at the Bradenton Area Convention Center, 1 Haben Blvd., Palmetto.
Sample collection is free of charge and will only be offered to residents who meet certain criteria, according to the health department.
Residents will be considered for testing if they have a prescription from a healthcare provider or are currently experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or are at high risk from the disease.
Appointments can be made by calling the health department at 941-748-0747.
The health department issued additional requirements for residents who are approved for testing. Those who arrive at the drive-thru site must:
▪ Be in a vehicle (no walk-ups will be seen).
▪ Remain in their vehicle at all times.
▪ Present a photo ID with a name that matches the name on the appointment.
▪ Produce proof of Manatee residency (driver’s license, utility bill, etc.).
Up to 80 participants will be scheduled for each day of testing, according to the health department.
Health officials continue to advise that anyone in Manatee County who believes they may have COVID-19 should call the Manatee Health Line at 941-242-6649 before calling 911 or visiting a hospital emergency room.
