Six new COVID-19 cases in Manatee County reported total number of cases nears 500

There were six new cases of COVID-19 in Manatee County as reported Saturday morning by the Florida Department of Health.

Manatee County had 497 cases. There were no new deaths reported Saturday morning, leaving the death toll at 42.

Sarasota County reported four new cases, bringing the tota there to 318 as of Saturday morning. No new deaths were reported, leaving the death toll at 32.

Statewide, the total number of cases was 30,839. Nine new deaths were reported in the state, bringing the total to 1,055.

The Florida Department of Health changed how it would be reporting new coronavirus cases throughout the state on Saturday, going from two updates a day to one.

Manatee County numbers from Friday to Saturday evening:

Manatee County increased from 491 cases to 497. The death toll remains 42.

The number of residents tested increased from 3,126 to 3,194.

Age range of infected are from 2 years old to 98.

The number of men infected is 204 compared to 290 women.

Sarasota County numbers from Friday to Saturday evening:

Sarasota County increased from 314 cases to 318. The death toll remains at 32.

The number of residents tested increased from 4,044 to 4,170.

Age range of infected are from infancy to 102.

The number of men infected is 133 compared to 169 women.

Florida numbers from Friday to Saturday evening:

The number of COVID-19 cases increased from 30,533 to 30,839.

The death toll rose from 1,046 to 1,055.

Surrounding counties not already listed:

Pinellas County increased from 673 cases to 677. The death toll remains at 24.

Polk County increased from 393 cases to 400. The death toll remains at 18.

Hardee County increased from nine cases to 10. No deaths have been reported.

Desoto County reports no new cases, which stands at 24. The death toll remains at four.

Counties with more than 1,000 cases:

Hillsborough County increased from 1,022 to 1,041. The death toll remains at 21.

Broward County increased from 4,591 cases to 4,659. The death toll remains at 162.

Miami-Dade County increased from 10,926 cases to 11,005. The death toll increased from 287 to 295.

Orange County increased from 1,290 cases to 1,304. The death toll remains at 30.

Palm Beach County increased from 2,600 cases to 2,614. The death toll remains at 155.

Collier County increased from 526 cases to 535. The death toll remains at 15.

Duval County increased from 955 cases to 965. The death toll remains at 18.

Lee County increased from 940 cases to 944. The death toll remains at 36.
