COVID-19 kills two more people in Manatee County. Florida deaths near 750
Two more people have died from COVID-19 in Manatee County, the Florida Department of Health said Saturday.
That brings the death toll in Manatee to 31, a number that spiked by 11 in just two days.
Overall, there were 362 COVID-19 cases in Manatee, as of Saturday. That was up from 326 a day earlier, according to the health department.
Sarasota County added five cases Saturday, raising its count to 279 COVID-19 cases. There was one new death Saturday, bringing the county’s death toll to 23.
The number of cases in Florida is 25,492 cases, including 748 deaths, as of Saturday evening.
Manatee cases from Friday night to Saturday evening:
- Cases increased from 326 to 362, which includes two nonresidents.
- Age range of those testing positive is now 2 to 97.
- Death toll increased by two and stands at 31.
- Hospitalizations increased by five to 78, which includes one nonresident.
- There are 161 males who have been infected with COVID-19, compared to 195 females.
- Number of residents tested increased from 2,200 to 2,319.
Sarasota cases from Friday night to Saturday evening:
- Cases increased from 274 to 279, including 15 nonresidents.
- Age range of those testing positive is between infancy and 102.
- Death toll increased by one to 23.
- Hospitalizations remain at 96, which includes eight nonresidents.
- There are 115 males who have been infected compared to 149 females.
- Number of residents tested increased from 3,190 to 3,338.
Florida cases from Friday night to Saturday morning:
- Cases increased from 24,753 to 25,492.
- The death toll increased from 726 to 748.
Hotspot counties with more than 1,000 cases:
- Broward County increased from 3,688 cases to 3,838. The death toll increased from 107 to 115.
- Miami-Dade County increased from 8,824 cases to 9,045. The death toll increased by three to 198.
- Palm Beach County increased from 2,088 cases to 2,138. The death toll remains at 114.
- Orange County increased from 1,158 cases to 1,180. The death toll remains at 23.
Surrounding counties:
- Hillsborough County increased from 924 cases to 943. The death toll remains at 19.
- Pinellas County increased from 565 cases to 587. The death toll is 16.
- Polk County increased from 316 cases to 320. The death toll remains at 12.
- Hardee County cases remain at four with no deaths reported.
- Desoto County cases remain at 23. The death toll increased by one for a total of four fatalities.
