Feeling down because of COVID-19? Bradenton healthcare provider has a 24/7 call line for that

Centerstone, a non-profit provider of mental health care and addiction recovery services in Bradenton and Sarasota, now has a service to help people struggling with the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

The new Centerstone CareLine is in operation 24/7 and can be reached at 941-782-4300.

“If you or someone you know needs to talk, the team at Centerstone is available to help any time of the day,” the organization said in a press release.

In addition to comfort and conversation, the hotline will offer coping skills and help connect callers with other helpful resources.

Many people are experiencing increased levels of stress, fear and anxiety during the challenging times presented by COVID-19,” Centerstone’s press release said. “The need for social distancing makes it harder to access our normal social supports. Being in contact with people who can relate to your experiences is comforting.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends calling a healthcare provider if stress interrupts a person’s daily activities for several days in a row.

Other tips from the agency on coping with coronavirus include:

  • Take breaks from news and social media.
  • Eat healthy and well-balanced meals when possible.
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Get plenty of sleep.
  • Avoid drugs and alcohol.
  • Make time to unwind.
  • Connect with other people.
