Four more deaths in Manatee County from COVID-19. Florida death toll surpasses 570
Four more people have died in Manatee County from COVID-19, according to the Florida Department of Health. In all, 19 people have died in Manatee during the pandemic.
The number of total cases in the county rose by nine to 261 as of Tuesday evening.
There have been more deaths in Manatee than in any surrounding county. Manatee County also recently surpassed Sarasota County in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases, though about 700 fewer tests have been administered in Manatee.
Sarasota County added 11 more cases on Tuesday, bringing the total number of positives there to 241. Two more COVID-19-related deaths were confirmed there, raising the total to 16.
Florida’s death toll climbed by 72 for a total of 571. The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases climbed from 21,019 on Monday to 21,628 on Tuesday evening.
Manatee County breakdown since Monday night:
- The number of cases increased to from 252 to 261.
- The death toll rose by four to 19.
- The number of hospitalizations increased by four and is currently at 52.
- Age range positive cases: 14 to 91.
- 46 percent of cases were male and 53 percent were female.
- The number of people tested rose from 1,757 to 1,794.
- Manatee County’s test positive rate remains elevated at 14.5 percent.
Sarasota County breakdown since Monday night:
- Cases have increased from 230 to 241.
- The death toll increased by two to 16.
- 72 residents and eight nonresidents have been hospitalized.
- Age range of positive cases: 0-99.
- 44 percent of cases were male and 56 percent were female.
- The number of people tested rose from 2,446 to 2,501.
- Sarasota County’s test positive rate was 9.6 percent.
Florida breakdown since Monday night:
- Number of cases increased from 21,019 to 21,628.
- Death toll increased from 499 to 571.
- The statewide test positive rate was 10.6 percent.
Surrounding counties:
- Hillsborough County increased from 813 cases to 819. The death toll climbed by two to 18.
- Pinellas County increased from 479 to 494. Death toll climbed by one to 14.
- Hardee County remains at three cases, including two nonresidents. There have been no reported deaths.
- DeSoto County remains at 22 cases. The death toll remains at three.
Florida hotspots with more than 1,000 cases:
- Broward County increased from 3,177 cases to 3,261. The death toll climbed by four to 81.
- Miami-Dade County increased from 7,459 cases to 7,712. The death toll climbed from 109 to 143.
- Orange County increased from 1,024 cases to 1,038. The death toll rose to 18.
- Palm Beach County increased from 1,704 cases to 1,740. The death toll climbed by 11 to 103.
Counties with more than 500 cases not already mentioned:
- Duval County increased from 691 cases to 718. The death toll rose by one to 14.
- Lee County increased from 642 cases to to 657. The death toll rose by one to 19.
