Three more dead in Manatee County from COVID-19. More than 370 have died in Florida

Three more deaths have occurred in Manatee County due to COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, the Florida Department of Health confirmed Thursday evening. A total of 11 people have now died in Manatee from the disease.

The DOH also is reporting seven new cases in Manatee County, bringing the total to 179. There were 17 new cases reported in Sarasota County, bringing the total to 201. A total of 10 deaths have been confirmed in Sarasota County.

The number of cases in Florida increased from 15,698 to 16,826. The death toll in the state climbed from 323 fatalities to 371 since Wednesday night.

Liberty County is the last county in Florida to report no cases.

Manatee County breakdown since Wednesday night:

  • The number of COVID-19 cases climbed from 172 to 179. All positive cases are local residents.
  • The age range of positives are between 14-89.
  • There are 80 men and 96 women who have tested positive.
  • The death toll has climbed from eight to 11.
  • Hospitalizations increased by one, from 38 to 39.
  • There were 1,174 people tested as of Wednesday night. That has increased to 1,276, with 1,097 testing negative.

Sarasota County breakdown since Wednesday night:

  • Positive cases increased from 184 to 201.
  • Age range is between 0-99.
  • There are 86 men who are positive and 115 women.
  • The death toll rose from eight to 10.
  • Hospitalizations among residents increased to 61; non-resident hospitalizations remained at seven.
  • Testing in Sarasota increased from 1,630 tests to 1,735, with 1,533 testing negative.

Florida breakdown since Wednesday night:

Florida increased from 15,234 cases to 16,826 cases.

The death toll rose from 323 to 371.

Hot spots with more than 1,000 cases:

  • Broward County: Increased to 2,480 cases from 2,365. The death toll climbed to 67 from 62.
  • Miami-Dade County: Increased to 5,898 cases from 5,461. There were 16 new deaths reported bringing the total to 66.
  • Palm Beach County: Increased to 1,333 cases from 1,224. The death toll increased from 69 to 75.

Counties with more than 100 cases besides Manatee and Sarasota:

  • Alachua County: Increased to 154 cases from 144. There are no reported deaths.
  • Brevard County: Increased by six to 111 cases. Death toll remains at two.
  • Clay County joins the counties with more than 100 cases. The county increased from 99 to 110. The death toll remains at seven.
  • Collier County increased to 292 cases from 303. The death toll remains at three.
  • Duval County increased to 595 cases from 557. Deaths increased to 11 from 10.
  • Escambia County increased to 192 cases from 182. The death toll remains at three.
  • Hillsborough County increased to 657 cases from 631. Deaths increased from seven to nine.
  • Lake County had one new case for a total of 140. Deaths remains at two.
  • Lee County increased to 522 cases from 467. The death toll remains at 14.
  • Martin County increased to 109 cases from 108. The death toll remains at one.
  • Orange County increased to 860 cases from 824. The death toll increased by two to 13.

  • Osceola County increased to 295 cases from 277. The death toll increased to five.
  • Pasco County increased to 139 cases from 127. The death toll remains at two.
  • Pinellas County increased to 422 cases from 395. The death toll remains at 10.
  • Polk County increased to 234 cases from 206 cases. The death toll increased by one to seven.
  • Seminole County increased to 229 cases from 218. The death toll remains at one.
  • St. Johns County increased to 163 cases from 129. The death toll remains at two.
  • St. Lucie County increased to 137 cases with six deaths.
  • Volusia County increased to 178 cases from 165. The death toll increased from three to five.
