Seven more cases of COVID-19 in Manatee County. Statewide tally tops 12,300

A total of seven Manatee County residents were among 805 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed across the state on Sunday, according to the Florida Department of Health.

Florida now has 12,350 confirmed cases of the disease, 11,961 of which were found in residents.

An additional 26 people have died, according to the state health department, bringing Florida’s death toll to 221.

Manatee County

Manatee County now has 136 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including seven new cases announced Sunday. All of the cases were among local residents.

The age range of those infected is 14 to 86, according to the latest demographics data from the state. Among adults in the 25 to 54 age range, there have been 62 cases. Among adults in the 55 to 84 age range, there have been 72 cases.

As in other Florida counties, the split between women and men who test positive for the disease remains relatively close. There have been 71 women and 64 men who tested positive in Manatee County.

A total of 910 people have now been tested in Manatee County, with about 15 percent of tests coming back positive.

The death toll remains at three in Manatee County, and 31 people have required hospitalization, according to the state health department.

34202: 20 cases.

34203: 24 cases.

34207: 5 to 9 cases.

34208: 26 cases.

34209: 5 to 9 cases.

34219: 5 to 9 cases.

34221: 11 cases.

34228: 5 to 9 cases.

34243: 10 cases.

Sarasota County

Sarasota County now has 140 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 10 new cases announced Sunday. Of those cases, 127 were found in residents and 13 were found in non-residents.

The age range of those infected is less than one year old to 99 years old. A total of 43 cases have been confirmed in adults under 55. A total of 97 cases have been confirmed in adults 55 and older.

There have been 77 women and 62 men who tested positive in Sarasota County.

A total of 1,310 tests have been administered, with about 11 percent of tests coming back positive.

The death toll remains at seven in Sarasota County, and 50 people have required hospitalization.

Tampa Bay area

Hillsborough County remains a hot spot for the novel coronavirus in Florida with a total of 536 confirmed cases of COVID-19 to date. Testing has been administered to 8,122 people, with about seven percent of tests coming back positive. Five people with infections have died in Hillsborough County.

At 359 confirmed cases, Pinellas County also has a higher number of cases than many surrounding areas. Testing has been administered to 6,380 people, with about six percent testing positive. A total of eight deaths have been reported in Pinellas County.
