Craving international travel? Tampa airport now has 13 direct flights to these destinations

If you are looking for a summer getaway — whether it be a solo trip or one the entire family can enjoy — Tampa International Airport has a trove of direct flights to tropical destinations.

The airport recently expanded a partnership with Frontier Airlines adding three new nonstop flights to Punta Cana and Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic and Montego Bay in Jamaica.

That brings the airport to 13 direct international destinations.

“We expect these flights to be extremely popular here and a welcome addition to our roster of nonstop destinations,”Tampa International Airport CEO Joe Lopano said in a news release.

Here’s a roundup of the nonstop international and Caribbean destinations at TPA:

  • Cancun, Mexico - Frontier, Jetblue, four times a week
  • Frankfurt, Germany - Eurowings Discover, six times a week
  • Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands - Cayman Airways, five times a week
  • London (Gatwick), England - British Airways, seven times a week
  • Havana, Cuba -Southwest Airline, eight times a week

Summer is one of TPA’s busiest seasons, the airport recommends passengers traveling internationally arrive three hours before their scheduled departure to ensure an easier time navigating through the airport.

According to Travel Awaits, a website dedicated to travelers 50-years-old and older, Punta Cana and Montego Bay are among the most popular destinations this summer.

Sarasota Bradenton International Airport is working to expand on its international destination list, and the airport offers seasonal trips to Canada.
