Allegiant to offer nonstop service between Sarasota Bradenton and this Ohio city
Known for being home to Goodyear Tire, the Soapboax Derby, and where Alcoholics Anonymous was founded, Akron, Ohio, now has another distinction.
It becomes the 52nd destination available at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport — one of the fastest-growing airports in the United States.
Allegiant on Tuesday announced new, twice weekly nonstop flights starting March 3 between Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) and Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ).
The airline announced introductory one-way fares on the new route as low as $59.
“Sarasota continues to prove itself as a destination that provides warm getaways where vacationers can enjoy a variety of outdoor leisure activities,” Drew Wells, Allegiant’s senior vice president of revenue and network planning, said in a press release.
“The addition of this route will give our customers new, affordable options for visiting Florida,” Wells said.
Allegiant, one of the major drivers of record-setting traffic at SRQ, serves communities that have been traditionally under served.

Allegiant’s announcement of the Akron-Sarasota Bradenton service comes less than a week after Avelo Airlines announced that it is beginning service between New Haven, Connecticut, and SRQ starting Jan. 13 with one-way introductory fares of $49 available at https://www.aveloair.com/.
