Allegiant adding flights from SRQ to this big city. You can fly it for as low as $39

For about the price you would expect to pay for a downtown parking spot in Boston, Allegiant announced today that it is adding a seasonal nonstop flight to the New England city starting Nov. 19.

Allegiant is offering the one-way fares between Sarasota Bradenton International Airport Boston Logan International Airport for as low as $39.

The new seasonal nonstop route will operate twice weekly. Flight days, times and fares can be found at Allegiant.com.

Seats and dates are limited and fares are not available on all flights. Flights must be purchased by Aug. 29, for travel by Feb. 8, 2021. Price includes taxes, carrier charges and government fees. Fare rules, routes and schedules are subject to change without notice. Optional baggage charges and additional restrictions may apply.

“We are excited to see that Allegiant is adding nonstop service between Boston and the Sarasota-Bradenton area. With Allegiant’s ultra-low-cost fares and nonstop flights, travelers will now have a quick, convenient, and inexpensive way to travel between these high-demand destinations. We look forward to welcoming this new route just before the holiday season,” Rick Piccolo, Sarasota Bradenton International Airport president and chief executive officer, said in a press release.

Delta and JetBlue also fly seasonal nonstops between SRQ and Boston.

Allegiant, which started its low fare service at SRQ in April of 2018, helped make Sarasota Bradenton International one of the fastest growing airports in the United States prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is also leading the recovery as one of the few airlines flying full flights from SRQ.

To prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, Allegiant requires passengers to wear face masks in the terminal and on its planes. It also issues complimentary healthy and safety kits to passengers.

Allegiant Air previously announced it is resuming service in August to Allentown, Pa. (ABE), Flint, Mich. (FNT) and Fort Wayne, Ind. (FWA).

Other airlines announcing new service this month include Delta Air Lines which is adding a fifth daily nonstop flight to Atlanta (ATL), and United Airlines, which resumed daily nonstop flights to Newark (EWR).

Delta Airlines has been in the news lately saying that it may have to furlough hundreds of pilots because of the economic slowdown caused by the pandemic. Delta officials in July said they are working to position Delta as a smaller, more efficient airline over the next several years by accelerating fleet simplification with the retirement of entire MD-88, MD-90, 777 and 737-700 fleets and portions of the 767-300ER and A320 fleets.

Delta has launched voluntary separation and early retirement programs to manage headcount and rescale operations.
