HGTV's David Bromstad to appear at Macy's grand opening

UNIVERSITY PARK -- HGTV star David Bromstad is scheduled to cut the ribbon and produce a fashion show at Macy's grand opening Oct. 16 at The Mall at University Town Center.

Bromstad, a Ringling College of Art and Design alumnus, will take scissors in hand at 10 a.m. at Macy's north entrance. Bromstad, 41, won the first season of "HGTV Design Star" in 2006, leading to his own shows, "Color Splash" and "Color Splash Miami." At 1 p.m. of the grand opening, Bromstad also will host a fashion show in the north parking lot and have a meet-and-greet on the store's second level in the ready to wear department. The meet and greet opportunity and seats for the fashion show are reserved for the first 200 customers to make a $35 purchase in the women's department.

Customers also can enter to win tickets to the 88th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Anyone who wants to preview Macy's can pay $5 to shop in the store. All proceeds will go to charity. Shoppers can pay at the door from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday.
