New jewelry store to open at DeSoto Square mall

Charms Palace, a jeweler with a kiosk at DeSoto Square mall, is opening a storefront at the mall Sept. 1, the mall’s general manager announced Wednesday.

Charms Palace owner Kumar Prasad signed a lease for a 1,650-square-foot store in DeSoto, and he plans to keep the kiosk running, general manager Don Burrow said.

“I didn’t think he would open so quickly, but he came to me this morning and said, ‘Sept. 1!’” Burrow said. Charms has three full-time employees and specializes in gold and diamond jewelry and jewelry repair. The private company formed in Bradenton in 2000.
