New Macy's in Mall at UTC to feature Starbucks

UNIVERSITY PARK -- You didn't think one Starbucks was going to be enough for the new mall, did you?

A job posting on the state's jobs website, Employ Florida, shows the new Macy's inside the Mall at University Town Center is hiring baristas and a supervisor for a Starbucks inside the two-level department store. Starbucks is already committed to building a kiosk attached to an escalator in the mall's center court. This would make the fourth Starbucks within a 2-mile radius of the mall. SuperTarget has a Starbucks inside and the Seattle-based coffee giant has full-service locations by Home Depot on University Parkway and on Lakewood Ranch Boulevard.

Starbucks at Macy's is a Macy's-owned division, and the company also has a Starbucks inside the Dadeland Mall Macy's in Miami.

Macy's is also hiring for all positions, which are posted at macysjobs.com. The 160,000-square-foot store is offering jobs first to the 127 employed at the DeSoto Square mall location, which is scheduled to close at the end of September, possibly early October.

Also, Samsonite's J.S. Trunk & Co., will open a 1,700-square-foot store on the mall's second level, being one of the first in the United States.

The Samonsite company is a concept store first launched in a Westfield mall in London. The store features top-end lines from Samsonite, American Tourister and High Sierra. The Mall at UTC store will be one of the first for the Hong Kong-based company in the United States, as a U.S. trademark for the name was filed in May. The company also has a store opening in the Mall at Bay Plaza in Bronx, N.Y.
