Sunglass Hut coming to Mall at University Town Center

UNIVERSITY PARK -- Shoppers won't be at a loss for shades inside the Mall at University Town Center.

Sunglass Hut will bring a 750-square-foot store to the mall in the center court between Godiva and Brighton Collectibles. The store applied for a building permit Tuesday.

Sunglass Hut is a mall staple, having locations in all of the Bradenton and Sarasota malls plus St. Armands Circle. The company started in 1971 and is part of the Italian Luxottica Group, which owns LensCrafters, Pearle Vision, Ray-Ban and Oakley.

Sunglass Hut will join other eyewear stores See Optical, Solstice Sunglasses, Edward Beiner and sister company LensCrafters. The two-level, 880,000-square-foot Mall at UTC is set to open Oct. 16 off of Cattlemen Road and University Parkway.
