Two Bradenton restaurants offer up hot summer lunch deals

Summer is here and it’s a great time to get out and enjoy restaurants that are usually too crowded in the height of season. There are also some great deals around to entice locals. Two restaurants, owned by brothers Doug and Peter VanDerNood, are offering up some hot summer lunch deals.

The Riverhouse Reef & Grill now offers a $9 lunch menu 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Many of the items on the menu are from the regular lunch menu. But there are four new sandwiches offered — a Classic BLT, Pressed Cuban, Bacon Brie Melt and the Tuna & Swiss Millennial Reuben.

Menu items are:

Soup and salad: Crock of house soup, choice of Island Time, Riverhouse or Caesar salad

Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad: Crisp romaine, house-made Caesar dressing, shaved Parmesan, grilled chicken

Fish & Chips: Alaskan Pollock, house batter, Riverhouse chips (or substitute fries or slaw)

Blackened Redfish Sandwich: Fresh redfish, blackened, vine-ripened tomato, fresh romaine lettuce. Choice of french fries or house chips

Classic BLT: Double stacked hickory bacon, chipotle mayo lettuce and tomato. Choice of french fries or house chips.

Pressed Cuban: Ham, roasted pork topped with Swiss cheese, pickles and mustard, pressed. Choice of french fries or house chips.

Bacon Brie Melt: Brie cheese melt pressed with smoky bacon, fresh arugula, Granny Smith apples. Choice of french fries or house chips.

Tuna & Swiss Millennial Reuben: Pressed sandwich with tuna salad, Swiss, super slaw, chipotle mayo. Choice of french fries or house chips.

Island Tacos: Two flower tortillas with Asian slaw, pico de gallo, cilantro. Choose from Cabo Bites, Kickin’ Shrimp, Kickin’ Chicken or Crispy Chicken. Choice of french fries or house chips.

The VanDerNoord’s other restaurant, Fratello’s Chicago Pizzaria, 7110 Cortez Road, Bradenton, is also running a special low-cost lunch menu with most items costing $7.50. It includes all of their hot sandwiches and burgers from the regular menu and lunch-sized portions of their most popular pasta dishes. Customers can also choose the self-serve soup and salad bar. The sandwiches and burgers come with bottomless fries. The pasta dishes come with garlic breadsticks.
