Best hot dogs in Daytona, Flagler? Here is one of my favorite spots

Nothing says summer quite like a hot dog.

Whether you're grabbing a quick lunch after a morning at the beach or simply chasing down your next comfort food fix, the Daytona area has no shortage of standout spots.

From timeless chili dogs to photo-worthy creations piled high with everything from kimchi to smoked pulled pork, these local restaurants prove there's far more to the iconic handheld than just ketchup and mustard.

Here's one of my favorites.

The best roadside food stops have a way of turning an ordinary drive into a destination, and Hot Diggity Dogs & Shakes has been doing just that for more than four decades.

Formerly known as Hot Diggity Dogs & BBQ, the local eatery - reminiscent of the hot dog stands many grew up with, but with a much more ambitious menu - welcomed new ownership in 2024 and continues to embraces its mom-and-pop roots.

Here, the menu runs the gamut from all-beef classics to quarter-pound and foot-long dogs, though it's the specialty creations that earn repeat visits.

Whether you're digging into a Trailer Park Dog dripping with Texas chili, melted cheddar and crushed Fritos, or the hearty New Jersey Dog loaded with grilled potatoes, peppers and onions, every combo seems to win over even the toughest hot dog traditionalists.

After ordering from the walk-up window, claim one of many shaded picnic tables and soak up the spot's easy-going atmosphere before finishing your visit with a helping of homemade apple cobbler or a thick, 20-ounce shake.
