State report cards were recently released, and Collier County defended its sixth place ranking among all schools districts in the state, receiving an A grade for the ninth year in a row.

Out of 67 school districts statewide, Collier County Public Schools secured the sixth highest number of points available in the grading system.

The district improved by 24 points, or 2 percentage points, from the 2024-25 school year.

Three schools declined from the previous year, a few improved and most stayed the same.

How are schools graded?

Schools are graded on up to 12 components including achievement in several different subjects, learning gains, middle school acceleration, graduation rates and college and career acceleration.

The achievement and learning gains components are calculated based on statewide standardized tests.

Collier County saw improvement in eight of the 12 categories assessed this year.

Schools are graded A, B, C, D or F, which "parents and the general public can use the school grade and its components to understandhow well each school is serving its students," according to the Florida Department of Education's 2026 school grades overview.

The grading scale:

  • A = 65% of points or greater
  • B = 60% to 64% of points
  • C = 45% to 59% of points
  • D = 35% to 44% of points
  • F = 34% of points or less

Collier County Public Schools Superintendent Leslie Ricciardelli praised the district's hard work in maintaining the A rating in a press release announcing the report cards.

"Our theme for the 2025-26 school year was The Power of We, and these results are a testament to what is possible when an entire community works together on behalf of children," Ricciardelli wrote.

"In a state where families have more educational choices than ever before, our continued success reinforces why Collier County Public Schools remains the clear choice for so many families," she added.
