High school baseball: ODA splits pair

Out-of-Door Academy won one and lost one in play Monday at the Taylor Emmons Classic baseball tournament, played at ODA's home field.

In the first game, the Thunder crushed Cheswick Christian 13-0. Parke Phillips lead the offensive attack by going 3 for 4, and Brady Moore went 2 for 2 and had a triple. Duncan Capper also went 2 for 2, and Alex DiMare was 2-3. Winning pitcher Max Monroe gave up one hit and struck out two in 3 innings of work.

ODA lost the second game to Estero 4-1. Najee Rhodes went 1-3 and drove in the Thunder's only run.

The tournament continues today.

High school tennis: Southeast leads tourney

At the Lemon Bay 2016 Class 2A-District 11 tournament, Southeast had 11 points, Lemon Bay had 10 points and Bayshore had 8 points at the end of the day.

The tournament ends Tuesday, and Southeast has Konrad Strzalkowski at No. 2 singles, Parth Patel at No. 3, Sebastian Suarez at No. 4 and Tyler Teaford at No. 5. In No. 2 doubles, Strzalkowski and Suarez will compete.
