Girls basketball | Lakewood Ranch wins first regional title

LaDazhia Williams finished with a game-high 21 points, including a nine-of-13 effort from the field.

Lakewood Ranch led 24-19 at halftime and 38-28 after three quarters.

The Mustangs will play Niceville in a Class 7A state semifinal Friday at 10 a.m. at the Lakeland Center. The state final is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Niceville defeated Robert E. Lee 52-46 in the Region 1 final. Winter Haven has also advanced to the semifinals. The fourth spot will be filled by either Fort Lauderdale or South Broward.
