Prep roundup: Southeast High handles Tarpon Springs in boys hoops, 74-64

Southeast High School moved into first place in its boys basketball district thanks to a 74-64 road win over Tarpon Springs on Friday.

Tre Alexandrea led the Noles with 27 points, followed by Ronald Taylor with 22 points, Corey Davis with 10 points and Keivous Brooks with eight points and 10 steals.

Southeast (4-2, 3-0) hosts Bayshore on Tuesday.

SAINT STEPHEN'S 47, INDIAN ROCKS CHRISTIAN 44 -- Jordan Edwards led the way with 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals as the Falcons picked up their first district win.

Jake Westberry added 14 points, while Destin Falls contributed seven points and six rebounds for Saint Stephen's (2-4, 1-1), which next plays Tuesday at home vs. Calvary Christian.

CARDINAL MOONEY 74, SARASOTA MILITARY 33 -- Nick Peacock led the Cougars to an easy win by scoring 17 points and grabbing four rebounds.

Emmanuel Lambright (10 points, nine rebounds) and Jake Santiago (eight points) also weighed in for Cardinal Mooney (2-4, 1-2), which visits Berkeley Prep on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Boys soccer

LAKEWOOD RANCH 2, SARASOTA RIVERVIEW 1 -- Ricky Yanez notched a pair of goals to help the Mustangs stay unbeaten in district play.

Vincent Archibald and Drew Butler each had an assist, while keeper Liam Branley turned away seven total saves for Ranch (5-2-1, 2-0-1), which hosts Saint Stephen's at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Wrestling

RANCH ADVANCES -- The Mustangs got undefeated efforts from four wrestlers Friday at the Gary Fries Duals in Fort Myers, earning a 2-1 team victory. Lakewood Ranch first defeated Dunbar, 43-33, then South Fort Myers, 54-12, before falling to Charlotte, 45-34.

Ranch's undefeated wrestlers were Hunter Reed (3-0, 120), Dylan Cameron (3-0, 126), Luis Tremblay-Vidal (3-0, 170) and Logan Bounds 3-0, 182.

Winner's pool matches start Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

Girls basketball

SOUTHEAST 68, TARPON SPRINGS 33 -- Yonna Reed led the way with a game-high 20 points as the visiting Seminoles won their fifth straight game.

Marline Balcin (12 points, 12 rebounds), Sophie Giardina (11 points) and Faith Mays (10 points) all played well for seventh-ranked Southeast (8-1, 4-0), which hosts No. 2 St. Pete Lakewood at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday with first place in the district on the line.

LAKEWOOD RANCH 60, MANATEE 6 -- Kailyn Scully led the way with 13 points and 10 steals as Ranch cruised past its county rival.

Aleah Robinson added 11 points for the Mustangs (7-2), who host Fort Myers on Tuesday.
