Prep Roundup: Southeast High boys hoops nips Northeast in OT
Keivous Brooks of Southeast High School drained a three-pointer with seven seconds left in regulation to force overtime and the Seminoles rolled to an 80-70 overtime triumph Saturday over Northeast High School in St. Petersburg.
The 5-foot Brooks, known as "Little Big Man" to the Southeast coaching staff, scored 11 points with nine assists and seven rebounds.
Southeast scoring was led by Ronald Taylor with 22, Tre Alexandrea at 21 and Corey Davis also chipped in 11.
The Seminoles even their record at 2-2. They play St. Pete Lakewood at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Girls basketball
COLONIAL 60,LAKEWOOD RANCH 54 -- Colonial outlasted Lakewood Ranch at the Florida Prospects Thanksgiving Tournament at Dr. Phillips High School on Saturday.
Junior Aleah Robinson scored a game-high 21 points for Lakewood Ranch (4-2) and sophomore India Searls added 13.
Lakewood Ranch plays its first district game at 7:30 Tuesday against Palmetto at home.
PALMETTO 58, LAND O' LAKES 19 -- Tina Stephenson and Taylor Rozier registered double-double performances for the Tigers as Palmetto finished the Bartow Shootout with a rout over the Gators.
Stephenson finished with 23 points, 16 boards, 4 blocks and 5 assists. Rozier tallied 19 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 block.
Anissa Washington added 9 points, 4 assists and 2 rebounds for Palmetto (7-1).
Connor Rozier tacked on 6 points, 4 boards and 3 blocks for the Tigers, who head to Lakewood Ranch to take on the Mustangs on Tuesday.
