Girls soccer roundup: Bayshore, Ranch, Palmetto, BCS open season with wins
Sophomore Diana Tresalus collected four goals while senioir Tiffany Manansala notched the other four as the Bruins rolled in their girls soccer season opener.
Freshman keeper Orbilia Carreno-Matiano got the shutout in net.
Bayshore (1-0) returns to action 6 p.m. Thursday vs. BCS.
LAKEWOOD RANCH 2, BRADEN RIVER 0 -- Faith Schyck scored both goals for the Mustangs, collecting assists from Madison Mirandilla and Hajar Benjoud, as Ranch won its season opener in shutout fashion.
Danielle Wilson and Kerestyn Kesgiropoulos split the goalkeeping duties for Lakewood Ranch (1-0), which visits Venice on Nov. 5.Lakewood
Ranch's JV team also beat Braden River, 2-1.
PALMETTO 1, SARASOTA MILITARY 0 -- Sarah Liggins scored the only goal host Palmetto needed in a season-opening win.
Elizabeth Atkinson had two saves in the shutout for the Tigers (1-0), who next play Nov. 5 vs. Manatee.
BRADENTON CHRISTIAN 10, IMAGINE SCHOOL 2 -- Maddy Jackson and Molly Setsma each knocked in three goals for the Panthers in their season opener.
Jackson added three assists, Setsma had two assists, McKenna Jackson had two goals an an assist, Maddy Valadie had a goal and an assist, and Maddy Allen scored a goal.
Savannah Fernandes and Rayna Smith combined for six saves in net for BCS (1-0), which visits Bayshore on Thursday.
