Prep roundup | Manatee girls tennis shuts out Palmetto in regular-season finale
Manatee concluded the regular season with a 7-0 win in Palmetto.
The Hurricanes' top three singles players Gabriel Karatantcheva, Allison Hlavac and Hailey Heagerty each earned 8-0 wins to send the Canes (9-2) to the rout.
Manatee will play for the Class 4A-District 8 title March 29-30 in Sarasota. The Tigers travel to Clearwater for the Class 3A-District 10 tournament March 29.
BAYSHORE 5, CARDINAL MOONEY 2 -- The Bruins' top doubles team of Ava and Theo Schulz completed a perfect regular season with an 8-4 win in Bayshore's win against the Cougars in Sarasota.
Bayshore (9-3) was carried by its doubles teams as Cailin Finnegan and Magide Joseph picked up an 8-5 win to finish the season at 8-1-1.
The Bruins will compete for a Class 2A-District 11 title March 28-29 in Englewood.
Softball
SOUTHEAST 15, BRADENTON CHRISTIAN 0 -- Rebecca Boesen hurled a no-hitter and the Seminoles scored 12 runs in its final four outs to shut out the Panthers for a road win in Bradenton.
The pitcher struck out 18 with a pair of hit batters and two errors keeping her from a perfect game.
Boesen also went 3 for 4 at the plate to lead the Noles' offense and shortstop Shaylene Holt chipped in with a 2-for-3 effort.
Southeast (8-6) goes on the road Monday to face Sarasota Christian in Sarasota. BCS (7-8) will not return to the field until April 1 in St. Petersburg for a district game against Northside Christian.
