Prep roundup: Noellert, Panthers pound Cambridge Christian

J.T. Noellert led the way with 18 points and 10 rebounds as the visiting Panthers crushed Cambridge Christian, 87-25, to stay unbeaten in district play.

Ryan Leunk finished with 16 points, Trent Bell scored 15 and Vincent Rehfeldt added 10 points and 10 assists for BCS (6-2, 3-0), which visits Sarasota on Friday.

BERKELEY PREP 51, CARDINAL MOONEY 36 -- Nick Peacock tallied 11 points, while Emmanuel Lambright scored six, while grabbing nine boards and dishing out four assists, but the Cougars (2-5) fell to the Buccaneers.

Kaleel Findlay led all scorers with 16 for Berkeley Prep.

Girls basketball

BRADENTON CHRISTIAN 47, CAMBRIDGE CHRISTIAN 41 -- Megan Dozeman dropped 12 points to lead all scorers, Amy Van Ryn tallied 11 points, and the Panthers defeated the host Lancers.

Jessica Jackson added nine points for Cardinal Mooney (4-2).

The Panthers will be back in action Monday, as they play host to Admiral Farragut.

Wrestling

TIGERS FINISH RUNNER-UP -- Palmetto finished second overall Saturday at the Lemon Bay Invitational, losing to Cape Coral Mariner 33-26 for the championship.

The Tigers claimed two individual championships in the event, won by Dominic Bass, who went 5-0 in the 152-pound weight class, and Nathan Heidenreich (5-0, 285). Four other Palmetto grapplers went 4-1 to finished second, Travis Murway (106 pounds), Kevin Schneider (120), Lex Leclezio (220) and Alonzo Houston (182).

Palmetto (4-1) returns to action Saturday at the Captain Archer Tournament at Charlotte High School.

MUSTANGS TAKE THIRD -- Lakewood Ranch wrestling went 3-1 Saturday in Fort Myers at the Gary Freis Memorial Duals to finish in third place overall.

Hunter Reed, at 120 pounds, led the way for the Mustangs, winning Most Outstanding Wrestler honors for the lower weight classes after going 7-0 in the event with seven pins.

Dylan Cameron also went unbeaten through his seven matches in the 126-pound weight class for Ranch. Other Mustang standouts included Jake Seaman (6-1 at 106 pounds), Tim Dwyer (5-2, 138), Chase Sharp (5-2, 220) and Ryan Brown (5-2, 145).

Lakewood Ranch (5-2) returns to action in an individual bracket tournament at Durant next Saturday.

JUCO basketball

SCF 96, FLORIDA NATIONAL UNIVERSITY 69 -- Joshua Floyd led the way with 27 points in a blowout win for the Manatees.

Harrison Hebert added 20 points and Austin Walker scored 10 for SCF (5-8), which returns to action next weekend at the Florida JUCO Shootout in Ocala.
