Up next: The top two finishers in each event plus top-16 total times from all four regions in the state qualify for the Class 1A state meet, which will take place Friday, Nov. 6, in Stuart.
Outlook: The closest meet to home for local swim fans also features by far the highest count of swimmers who advanced through district competition. Leading the way among the many local names on the boys side are ODA sophomore Martin Baffico, seeded first in the 100 butterfly and third in the 100 backstroke; Cardinal Mooney's Matthew Nutter (1st in the 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle); Cardinal Mooney's Matthew Garcia (1st in the 100 backstroke, 3rd in the 200 freestyle); ODA's Zach Szmania (3rd in the 100 breaststroke); BCS' Connor Kesten (4th in the 200 IM, 5th in the 100 backstroke), and SSES' Marshall Webster (5th in the 500 freestyleODA's 200 medley relay (3rd) and 400 freestyle relay (fourth). In the girls meet, BCS' Anna Freed (2nd in the 100 backstroke, fifth in the 200 IM) may have the best shot of advancing among local swimmers.
