As many as 2,000 people expected at 52nd island Easter sunrise service

MANATEE -- A crowd of up to 2,000 people is expected at the 6:30 a.m. Easter sunrise service at Manatee County Public Beach, according to the Kiwanis of Anna Maria.

All the island churches participate in the 52nd annual service.

The benediction will be delivered by Rev. Edward Moss of Crosspointe Church.

St. Bernard's Church will deliver the offertory prayer.

Father Matthew Grunfeld of Episcopal Church of the Annunciation will deliver the opening prayer.

The Rev. Dr. Bob O'Keef of Roser Church will deliver the sermon.

The Revs. Stephen King of Harvey Memorial Church and Rosemary Backer of Gloria Dei Church will deliver scriptures

All funds collected are equally divided among participating churches.

There is ample parking and the trolley will begin running at 6 a.m. as will Anna Maria Beach Café.

It is usually chilly so early in the day so dressing warmly is advised. Bring chairs or a blanket.
