Ice menorah will be carved at Lakewood Ranch Main Street
LAKEWOOD RANCH -- To celebrate the 2015 Chanukah season, Chabad of Bradenton & Lakewood Ranch plan to carve a 6-foot ice Menorah at 6 p.m. Dec. 7 at Lakewood Ranch Main Street.
This unique candle-lighting ceremony will promote Chanukah. The kindling of the Menorah symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness.
Onlookers can watch the intricacies of ice sculpting while learning about Chanukah and celebrating the 2015 holiday season.
The unfinished ice blocks will arrive at Lakewood Ranch Main Street late Monday afternoon for ice sculptors to carve a menorah with chainsaws and other tools.
The Ice Menorah lighting will feature community dignitaries and leaders followed by a community celebration themed with a Glow in the Dark theme.
The Ice menorah will glow in the dark and free glow sticks, necklaces and bracelets will be handed out.
Hundreds are expected to dance, sing and eat the night away with live music, Falafel with Yoav and a Kosher barbecue sponsored by Bogey's.
Latkes, free raffles and special activities for the children including Chanukah art, Orit's doughnut making, Judah the Maccabee visit and a Dreidel moonbounce.
