Roser Memorial Chapel to celebrate Bayfest on Oct. 17
ANNA MARIA -- The 100-year-old Roser Memorial Chapel will be open for prayer and historical information during Bayfest on Oct. 17.
The Roser Chancel Choir will sing at 10:30 a.m. followed by The Grace Notes Trio at 11:30 a.m. and The Joyful Noise Children's Choir at 12:30 p.m.
All children are invited to explore the Children's Tent and enjoy free crafts, games and snacks.
In 1913, Anna Maria Island land developer, Charles Roser, funded the construction of a chapel near the Anna Maria City Pier at 512 Pine Ave. in honor of his parents, John and Caroline Roser.
Everyone is invited to stop by and ask about what fig newtons have to do with the chapel and meet Roser Pastor Dr. Bob O'Keef, who will sign his book, "Through the Crystal Snow."
The book begins in fall 1806. Robert Tyler, a successful North Carolina planter, businessman, and politician, learns he is the father of an adult son he has never met and the target of an assassination plot. His opponents want to destroy him, Lynnmont, his estate, and Tyler Cos. In an attempt to save everything, he decides to die for his son rather than live for himself.
The cost is $20.
