Blitz Ministries is bringing its high-energy events to Bradenton First Church of the Nazarene this weekend.

Children and their families will get a different experience this weekend when Blitz Ministries brings its Christian ministry events that have been held in churches of more than 50 denominations. Blitz’s team of ministers will bring three different sessions of its game-show like program to Bradenton First Church of the Nazarene, 1616 59th St. W., Bradenton, beginning Friday night.

Creator and event director Roger Fields promises that families will have an experience like they’ve never had before.

“We turn a spectator into a participant,” Fields said. “Parents and kids go onto the stage and take on different games and challenges.”

The game-show like event features original music, which are parodies of classic rock tunes.

The event is free and open to the public, according to Robin Butler, Children’s Pastor at First Church of the Nazarene.

“We are inviting the community to come out and have a great time,” Butler said.

The three-part event will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday with the Blitz Party Live for Teens. The teen party will include an hour-session inside for middle-school and high-school age teens. Afterward, the fun will continue outside with inflatables and a free taco party.

At 2 p.m. Saturday, the Kidz Blitz Live event will take the stage followed by another outdoor party with inflatables and free ice cream, donated by Culver’s.

“Kids want to do stuff, they don’t just want to sit and watch,” Fields said.

Fields created the program about 20 years ago. Today, Blitz had three teams visiting churches around the country to bring his unique program to families.

At 10:45 a.m Sunday, there will be a special family service. Families will be able to order lunch from food trucks before the Family Blitz program begins inside at 2 p.m.

“I’m really excited about the family event because it’s really important because families need to know they are a team,” Butler said. “We are just really excited to reach out to the community and let them know we are here for them so that they know if there is ever anything they need.”
