Bradenton brewery’s beer reunited lost dog with owner. There are only a few cans left

Here’s your chance to buy some of the beer that helped reunite a lost dog in Manatee County with its owner in Minnesota.

Last month, Motorworks launched a unique beer can promotion that made national headlines and became a discussion point for talk show hosts like Ellen Degeneres.

Four adoptable dogs were featured on the brewery’s award-winning Cruiser Golden Lager and two were adopted at the brewery’s Yappy Hour Extravaganza on Jan. 19. But the big surprise came later when a woman in Minnesota saw her long, lost pup featured on one of the cans.

That’s my dog,” said Monica Mathis at the time and she was able to prove it with old medical records available on the dog’s microchip.

On the heels of that successful promotion that ended with a heartwarming surprise, Motorworks looks to its Yappy Hour on Sunday to continue efforts to promote pet adoptions.

It will also sell off the last of the promoted beer during the event’s silent auction benefiting Friends of Manatee County Animal Services.

Though Motorworks has said they will likely do another dog can promotion featuring new dogs, there are only a few four-packs and cases left of the original run kept in reserve for the upcoming Yappy Hour.

Yappy Hour will run from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the brewery, 1014 Ninth St. W.

Sponsored in part by Dawg Phonics K9 Training and Animal Network, all proceeds raised from the event’s raffle, 50-50 split drawing and silent auction will go toward enriching the lives of the shelter animals by providing resources, medical care and heart worm treatment.

The event in the beer garden will include vendors and food trucks, as well.

Other silent auction prizes include restaurant gift cards, pet products and services, a big screen TV, tickets to sporting events and more.

Bring the fur babes along because it’s all about them, but you are asked to keep all pets leashed.
