MOTHER'S DAY

The Capital Grille, Mall at University Town Center, Sarasota, will host a Mother's Day brunch 10 a.m.-3 p.m. May 8. The restaurant will offer a prix-fixe brunch menu for children and adults in addition to their full dinner menu for $49 per person and $15 for children. For the appetizer course, guests can choose between menu items such as a cup of spring artichoke bisque, or bibb stack salad. Main course items including bone-in dry aged N.Y. strip with fried egg, pan-seared salmon, 8-ounce filet mignon, or the Grille's lobster frittata. The Crosley Estate, 8374 N. Tamiami Trail, will host a Mother's Day brunch with seatings at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. May 8. The Southern brunch menu includes quiches, Belgium waffle station, traditional breakfast items, tea sandwiches, seafood Newburg in puff pastry, crab cakes, chicken jambalaya, smokey citrus glazed ham, a selection of fresh salads and fruit, breakfast pastries, muffins and breads. The Table Creekside, 5365 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, is offering a Mother's day brunch 11 a.m.-3 p.m. May 8. The selections include The Parisian -- duck sausage, vanilla waffle, sorel hollandaise, fried duck egg, agave syrup; Main Lobster Benedict -- butter-poached lobster, lobster fondue, goat cheese; The Cowboy -- 6-ounce filet mignon, Argentinian sausage, neuske's bacon, fried egg, crispy potato hash; Elephant ear French Toast -- granny smith caramel apples, cinnamon dust, organic chicken sausage, fried egg; Steak and eggs - wild mushroom quiche, neuske's potato hash, poached eggs, romesco salsa; Mardi Gras -- jumbo gulf shrimp, tasso gravy, poached egg. SPECIAL EVENTS

Lola wine dinner: Harry's Continental Kitchens sommeliers Harry Christensen and Hal Christensen along with Anna Maria Island Native Seth Cripe of Lola Wines and Cortez Bottarga, invite you to a night of wine, food and fun 6:30 p.m. April 20. The five-course dinner will focus on local seafood and Cripes' own Cortez Bottarga, as well as two non-seafood courses to accompany Lola's four accomplished varietals. A special new red zinfandel will be flown in for the final dessert course. The restaurant is at 5600 Gulf of Mexico Drive, Longboat Key. Cost: $75 per person, gratuity and tax not included. Jazz brunch: The Sandbar's Sunday Jazz Brunch features nationally recognized, top local jazz musicians.
