Nutrition store near IMG offers shakes, teas to help customers look and feel better
The mantra at Bayshore Nutrition might be something like: try our shakes and teas, lose weight, get healthy and feel better.
Filiz and Joseph McNamara opened Bayshore Nutrition, featuring Herbalife products, at 5330 34th St. W. on Jan. 13. They invite the public to check them out any time or at their grand opening 2 p.m. Friday when a ribbon cutting ceremony is planned with the Manatee Chamber of Commerce.
The couple moved to Bradenton about a year ago, after Joe retired from a 26-year career in the U.S. Air Force. Filiz had already been selling Herbalife products about six years by then and the McNamaras decided to devote their combined energies to the business.
“A lot of our target market is healthy people or people looking to get healthy,” Joe said of choosing a location in the MarketPlace West shopping plaza, near IMG Academy, State College of Florida, Bayshore High School, and Electa Lee Magnet Middle School, .
As for choosing to retire in Bradenton, Joe said he and Filiz got acquainted with the area through his brother who was already a resident.
“I fell in love with Bradenton,” Filiz said, adding that the warm, blue-green waters of the Gulf of Mexico reminded her of the Mediterranean sea along the coast of her native Turkey, just one of many places the couple lived over the years.
Joe started his career as an emergency medical technician, before going to officer candidate school, earning his commission, and serving as a missile operations officer. His career took him to places as diverse as Minot, N.D., Langley Air Force Base, Va., and Vandenburg, Air Force Base, Calif., before retiring as a major.
Fiz is an artist who has been active in fitness and nutrition for 15 years.
The Herablife products used to make shakes, teas and coffee are intended to help customers feel better and lose weight, rather than help them bulk up, Filiz said.
“What we are interested in is the insides,” Filiz said.
The protein shake mix and a high quality protein boosters are intended as high-quality meal replacements to refuel the consumer for the day while keeping their macronutients well balanced, according to the couple.
Bayshore Nutrition plans several giveaways throughout their grand opening from other local small businesses. The company will also have samples of some of their drinks and shakes as well as items available for purchase from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday.
Filiz will also be offering wellness evaluations that recommend exercises and meal planning. Her expertise in in group fitness and holistic nutrition certification will guide her in tailoring individual plans.
The McNamaras say they have taken every measure to keep people safe and to operate in a clean environment. Handles at the business are protected with a product called Nano Septic which oxidizes anything that touches it to create a continuously clean surface. Additionally, they have hospital grade sanitizer available throughout the store to help keep all surfaces clean. They also have online ordering with pick up at the time of the customer’s choosing.
Bayshore Nutrition is open 7 a.m. - 7 .m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. For more information, call 941-220-4191 or visit https://bradenton-bayshore-nutrition.business.site/.
