An alternative to the grocery store. Drive-thru market coming to Lakewood Ranch

A drive-thru market in Lakewood Ranch will offer a chance to get fresh produce, meat and other essentials without stepping foot in a grocery store this weekend.

The market is sponsored by Texas Roadhouse and will operate from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Lakewood Ranch restaurant, located at 5710 Ranch Lake Boulevard.

What’s in stock? The market will offer a $35 produce package that comes with one gallon of milk, one yellow onion, one red onion, four tomatoes, one pound of rice, two jumbo carrots, four cobs of corn, four bananas, two pounds of broccoli, two oranges, four potatoes and one dozen eggs.

Customers can also pick up “butcher packs” of ready-to-grill steaks. Steak selections include ribeye, strips, sirloin and filet, and pork chops and beef tips are also available. Customers are encouraged to call ahead to place orders for meat at 941-747-2740.

Texas Roadhouse restaurants also continue to offer curbside pickup of regular menu items as well as family-dinners for four.

“We’re offering a one-stop alternative to the grocery,” Texas Roadhouse managing partner Johnny White said in a press release. “As individuals look for additional ways to stay safe and practice social distancing, we’re enabling folks around Lakewood Ranch to restock the fridge and pick up a hot meal, all at the same time.”

Other restaurants around Bradenton and Manatee County have also been stepping up to offer food supplies and essentials as the coronavirus outbreak continues to make visits to the grocery store risky. Several of the businesses offer advanced online ordering.
