This Sarasota restaurant offers Latin food with an Asian twist. It is opening a second spot

Selva Grill, a Sarasota Main Street hot spot for 15 years, is set to open a second location at University Town Center in summer 2020.

Selva Grill’s second location will be in a 5,000-square-foot space on Cattlemen Road in the West District of UTC, adjacent to Jared the Galleria of Jewelry. The new space will have outdoor and indoor seating in a modern, colorful setting, complete with a mural by Douglas Higgins, the same artist who designed the Starry Night-inspired mural in the original location.

“Selva’s Latin Fusion cuisine represents the marriage of exotic flavors from Latin America and the United States. Our special emphasis on Peruvian dishes recognizes the contribution of Asian immigrants to Peru, who deliciously fused their cuisine and techniques with that of the locals,” the restaurant says on its web page.

Selva is known for its ceviches de la casa, selection of appetizer entradas and saladas, and entrees ranging from seafood to lamb, pork, beef and veal, prepared with exotic salsas, herbs, fruits and vegetables, according to the Selva web site.

“We are thrilled to welcome Selva Grill to UTC and enhance the district’s already impressive list of gathering and dining options,” Mark Chait, executive director of leasing for UTC developer Benderson Development, said in a press release.

“UTC is a unique shopping and dining destination with a mix of exceptional retailers, and it speaks volumes about the district’s continued growth and success that Selva Grill chose this for its second location,” Chait said.

UTC spans more than 4 million square feet, with more than 250 specialty stores, 80 restaurants, entertainment offerings and office spaces. The collection includes The Mall at UTC, The West District, The Market, The Square, The Shoppes, The Offices and The East District.
