Marauders’ June 11 event to benefit Manatee troops

The Bradenton Marauders will host a “Care Package Party” from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 11, to benefit the Manasota Operation Troops.

The event in the Fan Plaza at McKechnie Field will feature fans putting care packages together, according to a news release. A light breakfast will be provided to volunteers.

Items to bring for troops overseas include peanut butter, crackers, cookies, toothbrushes, canned tuna,socks, word find books, canned fruit and wet wipes, according to a news release.

Manasota Operation Troops serves Manatee and Sarasota county military troops and their family members. Boxes for fans to put the items in for the troops will be placed around McKechnie Field starting Monday, June 6.

June 11 is also Military Appreciation Night and the Marauders, a High-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team, will host the Tampa Yankees at 6:30 p.m. at McKechnie Field. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
