Disney to Sell Beloved Theme Park Props, Company Announces

It's official: Disney is selling a portion of its beloved theme park props. So, if you're someone who absolutely loves all things Disney, you could get an actual original piece of Disney history for a price.

Disney made the announcement on Monday, June 29, on social media. Disney D23 and Heritage Auctions, a Dallas, Texas-based auctioneer, are partnering to sell pieces in an auction, including Disney theme park props, signs and related memorabilia starting at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in August 2026. Disney hasn't mentioned where the funds raised from the auction go, but it appears it may be a new source of revenue for the theme park.

"Calling all collectors: Get ready for The Disney Experiences Auction - Rare And Remarkable Finds at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. Through live and online bidding, discover select, verified pieces from Disney's theme parks and resorts that are ready for their next chapter with the fans who treasure them most," Disney D23 stated on Instagram.

Bret Iwan, the official voice of Mickey Mouse and a Disney Fine Artist, will host the auction. The event will also feature both live and online bidding. The announcement adds that afternoon tickets for D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event start at $49. For ticket information, head to D23.com.

Even though Disney just now announced the news to the public, according to a report from WDWNT.com, Heritage Auctions sent a text message to its subscribers on June 23 "reminding them of the deadline for consignment for The Disney D23 Experiences Auction occurring on Sunday, Aug. 16, which is the last day of the D23 event in Anaheim."

"As the screenshot below shows, there was no such auction listed on their website's auction calendar at the time the text message was sent," the publication adds. "Curiously, this D23 auction was never intended to accept consignments from the public, reinforcing the hypothesis that the text message was a big mistake on Heritage's part."

So, the Ultimate Fan Experience is offering yet another way for those who love Disney to get a piece of the magic. For information on D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, head to the event's official website.
