"How is your tortoise's shell so shiny?" the video caption reads as a fun song plays.

"Us every day for the past four years," the caption continues as the video cuts to Fig getting her shell hosed down gently in a variety of different environments. We watch as Fig grows bigger and stronger with every clip across her four years of pet-hood, and her little butt wiggles get cuter and cuter every time!

"Fig's hips don't lie," one viewer commented

"The most hydrated tortoise in the world," another said jokingly.

"Impossible to interpret that as anything but enjoyment," added another commenter.

Is It Important to Shower Pet Tortoises?

Fig certainly is having a lot of fun during her "showers," but it's not just about a good time or an entertaining dance break. Showering or soaking your pet tortoise is actually really important for their hydration.

Tortoises drink water, of course, but their tails and skin are actually quite absorbent as well. Taking water in through their whole body allows for better digestion and keeps their skin from becoming crusty or overly dirty.

It's important to use water that feels lukewarm to our touch, because you don't want to shock your tortoise with anything too hot or too cold. A hose is a great way to "shower" your tortoise, and it provides interesting stimulation to their shell, which has many nerve endings and can get itchy from time to time.

However, if you plan to soak your tortoise or "give it a bath," the water should remain rather shallow, and your tortoise should stay in the water for about 15 to 20 minutes. This gives them enough time to really soak up all that watery goodness.

This is also a great time to give your tortoise a scratch. They love to have their shell, feet and tail scrubbed down with a soft-bristle brush. It's important not to use any soap or detergents, however, as this can strip their body of important oils.

Besides being hygienic and hydrating, these showers and soaks can be a whole lot of fun. Just look at Fig doing her jig! We could watch that butt wiggle all day.
