'Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game' Closed Beta Details: Everything You Need to Know
EVO 2026 has come to a close, and every year, along with the largest fighting game tournament in the world, comes a slew of new game announcements and details. One of those was the reveal of the upcoming closed beta for Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game.
The closed beta for Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is taking place this upcoming weekend from July 2 to July 5. To get into the beta, fans will need to digitally pre-order the game on PlayStation 5, Steam, or Xbox Series X/S.
The beta will include crossplay between all platforms for online matches, rollback netcode, offline versus mode, and a training mode, making this one of the most feature-rich betas among modern fighting games, as it is rare to get any offline content in a beta.
The majority of the game's base 12-character roster will also be playable in the beta. Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, Zuko, Korra, and Azula will all be playable with all three of their support characters.
In addition to the year one DLC characters, which include Uncle Iroh, Bolin, Ty Lee, and Lin Beifong, the fifth and final slot for the season one DLC will be voted on by players who pre-order the game. The potential choices include: Bumi, Amon, Tenzin, Kuvira, and Asami (one character from Avatar: The Last Airbender and four characters from The Legend of Korra).
Previously, developer Gameplay Group International delayed the release of the game by a few weeks to add new features that were not expected to be available at launch. The game will feature a story mode, arcade mode, offline versus, online play in ranked matches, casual matches, and lobbies, and a training mode. Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game will also launch at just $29.99 instead of the usual $69.99.
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game will be available on July 23, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. Pre-orders are available now for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
