This Ragdoll Cat's Bizarre Sleeping Position Looks Uncomfortable-but Experts Say It's Normal
If you're a cat parent, you know they like to sleep and spend much of their day taking short cat naps to have enough energy for all their zoomies. You also know that when you walk past your sleeping cat, you never know what position they'll be in, but it's often weird and doesn't look comfortable in any sense of the word.
In this video, we meet a Ragdoll cat who has a very bizarre sleeping position that 100% looks anything but comfortable. But according to experts, this awkward nap position is a sign of a relaxed, perfectly contented kitty. Take a look!

On May 1, 2026, TikTok user Panini & Ziti (@paniniandziti) shared a video of their Ragdoll Ziti (we believe, based on the comments) enjoying a peaceful nap on the kitty's perch right at the window.
He's taking one of the many naps of the day, and it really looks like it's a good one. He's in the sun that's coming through the window, but if you didn't see his eyes closed, the position he's sleeping in doesn't look like he could possibly be catching any rest. His chin is straight up in the air, mouth slightly open, but he's in the sleep zone, and it's so charming.

In the comments, hundreds of people were smitten by this cute Ragdoll and the silly way he chose to take his nap.
One person wrote, "No one is more tired than a cat who's done nothing all day."
Another shared, "What bills is he paying to be THAT exhausted?"
Someone else added, "Oh, to be a spoiled rotten ham of a cat. Freaking hilarious!"
Other comments included, "Ma'am, your floof is out of service," "My post-gym nap," "I have three cats, and they act like they work 12-hour shifts," "That... is an amazing sleeping position," and "Honestly, what a mood."

Why Cats Sleep in Strange Positions and When Experts Say It's Completely Normal
Ziti and his brother, Panini, are really cute when they sleep, especially when caught in a weird position, as this video shows. Cats are known for having strange sleep positions, and for the most part, they're totally normal, experts say, and it might actually be a good sign.
Purina UK explains that there are several sleep positions your kitty may take a nap in, and even those vary from cat to cat. One of the 10 positions Purina UK describes is called "the acrobat," and that's probably the one that would fit the way this silly Ragdoll was taking a nap. The acrobat is described as a cat who sleeps in weird twists or "contorted positions" that look odd at a glance.
But they explain that a cat asleep in a strange position is likely in a very deep sleep, and it signals an animal who is "playful or confident," completely at ease and protected, since they're not at all worried about anything potentially harming them.
So, if your cat is snoozing just like Ziti does or his brother Panini, it's completely normal, and your cat is one happy feline.
