Lakewood Ranch's Chris Kennedy captured the West Florida Golf Tour stop at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club's Kings Dunes course this past Monday in a playoff.
After a 5-under-par 67, Kennedy dispatched Jason Hnat in the sudden-death playoff to collect a first-place check of $1,012.73.
Bradenton's Sean Jacklin finished fourth with a 71. Only four of the 66 players in the field shot under par on the King's Dunes layout.
The WFGT's next event in Manatee County is next Monday at the Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Club.
Bradenton Christian's Landry Miller secured the men's club championship at Bradenton Country Club last weekend with a 235 total over 54 holes. Manatee's Gabrielle Tomeo earned the ladies title with a 144 score over 36 holes. Other winners: Randy Santos (men's net, 226 total), Jon Neville (men's senior, 159), Dick Pomeroy (men's senior net, 143), Karen Aarts (ladies net, 151), Pam Frost (ladies senior, 182) and Terry Spokes (ladies senior net, 141).
Bradenton's SiQin "Ariel" Yu won the Florida State Golf Association's Florida Junior Tour event at Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club last weekend. She fired a 75-73--148 for a one-shot victory over Windermere's Meiyi Yan in the girls 13-15-year-old division.
Lakewood Ranch's Cameron Weber fired a 74 to win the boys 16-18 year old division of the Greater Sarasota Junior Golf Association's event at Tatum Ridge Golf Links. Bradenton's Bryan Choi won the boys 13-15s with a 74. Bradenton's Theresa Morrissey posted an 80 to earn the girls 16-18s title over fellow Lakewood Ranch teammate Katie Kroos-Roberts. The next GSJGA tournament is a nine-hole event at the Venetian Golf and River Club in Venice on March 20.
The Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club Spring Break golf camp is set for March 21-25. The cost is $250 for the full day (9 a.m.-4 p.m.) or $200 for a half day (9 a.m.-1 p.m.). No equipment is needed and lunch and snacks are included.
Topics covered for the beginner and advanced player are short game, putting and full swing. There's on-course play. Advanced registration is required and there's a $25 registration fee.

HOLES-IN-ONE
On Jan. 14 at River Run Golf Links, Cliff Lisle aced the 145-yard 15th hole with a rescue club. Witnesses were Dave Volin, Roger Keeler and Bob Johnson.
On Jan. 18 at The River Club, Cheryl Mitchell eagled the 297-yard par-4 fourth hole with a 7-wood from 140 yards. Witnesses were Judy Carlson and Ivan Walcott.
On Jan. 20 at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club's Cypress Links course, Tom Leonard aced the 136-yard second hole with a 7-iron. Witnesses were Paul Giroux, Bill Morgan and Frank Clayton.
On Feb. 29 at Pinebrook/Ironwood Golf Club, Dorothy Smith aced the 69-yard 18th hole with a pitching wedge. Witnesses were Hedy Matechek and Linda Cope.

On Wednesday, March 2 at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club, Kevin Fitzgerald aced the 144-yard, par-3 11th using a 6-iron. Witnesses were Alan Silverleaf, Bob Capp and Bill Black.
On Thursday, March 3 at Peridia Golf and Country Club, Flo-Ann Weaver aced the 91-yard second hole with a 6-hybrid. Witnesses were Mike Weaver, Andy Olsen, Carol Olsen, Jeff Holmes and Karen Holmes.
