Search continues for Myakka City couple missing on Lake Okeeochobee
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is conducting search and rescue efforts for John Russ, 72, and his wife, Diane, 62. A friend reported the couple missing after they failed to return from their fishing trip Saturday night. The weather was bad that night.
The couple’s airboat has been located. It has not been removed from the water yet, because of poor weather conditions.
Lake Okeechobee is Florida's largest freshwater lake. It's nearly 29 miles wide and covers an area of 730 square miles.
