Manatee Genealogical Society to present author

BRADENTON -- Manatee Genealogical Society will present Tampa-based author and speaker George G. Morgan for their 2016 seminar at Bethel Baptist Church, 1805 30th Ave. W., Bradenton, 8 a.m.- 3 p.m. Feb. 6.

Topics scheduled: Clues in the news, your ancestor in community context; bring 'em back to life, developing an ancestor profile; maximizing your research on the new FamilySearch.org, and finding your ancestors with 150 Google country search engines.

Morgan is a recognized genealogy expert, author of 12 books, and lecturer with presentations across the U.S., Canada, the U.K, and on several international genealogy cruises. He is president and primary speaker of Aha! Seminars, a professional supplier of training for libraries and genealogical societies world-wide.

Seminar cost: $35 for members and $40 for non-members includes continental breakfast and lunch for pre-registered attendees. Checks payable to Manatee Genealogical Society should be sent to P.O. The Manatee Genealogical Society monthly meetings are normally held the first Tuesday at 10 a.m. from October through May in the auditorium of the Manatee County Central Library, 1301 Barcarrota Blvd. W., Bradenton.

Kiwanis Club donates to Manatee 4-H Foundation

BRADENTON -- The Kiwanis Club of Bradenton recently donated $10,000 to the Manatee County 4-H Foundation for support of local 4-H youth programs. This annual donation dates back to the early 1970s as Kiwanis has a been a long-time supporter of the 4-H program which annually serves over 9,000 Manatee County youth in the area of citizenship, leadership, and life skills.
