2015 Herald All-Area Volleyball team

Jacqui Armer, Manatee

Class: Senior

Position: Middle blocker

To her credit: One of two seniors for the Hurricanes, Armer solidified the Canes' defense and at times was also an unguardable offensive weapon. The 6-foot-4 middle blocker could hit from higher angles than almost any other player in the state and racked up 154 kills at a 55-percent clip. She also led Manatee with 74 blocks, including 42 solo.

Up next: After a successful career with the Hurricanes, Armer will play for LSU next season. She signed her National Letter of Intent during the early signing period.

Shelby Dollwet, Lakewood Ranch

Class: Junior

Position: Middle blocker

To her credit: Dollwet was a breakout star for a young Mustangs teams. She was a fierce defensive presence at the net and also a skilled enough finisher for Ranch to use her as a focal point in the offense. When top outside hitter Kahlee York was injured, the middle blocker got an even greater chance to lead the offense of a rebuilding team.

Up next: After her emergence as a junior, Dollwet will be a key component of a senior-laden Lakewood Ranch team in 2016.

JoJo Coulter, Manatee

Class: Sophomore

Position: Outside hitter

To her credit: Playing alongside her two sisters, Coulter was the Hurricanes' second most consistent attacking option. The outside hitter finished second on the team with 197 kills and was also one of three players with at least 100 digs, ending the year with 118. The sophomore also was the Canes' most reliable setter, leading the team with 42 aces while posting a 93.4 serving percentage.

Up next: After helping the Canes to at least a Class 8A state semifinal in each of her first two seasons with the program, Coulter will replace her older sister as the Hurricanes' top outside hitter as a junior.

Kahlee York, Lakewood Ranch

Class: Junior

Position: Outside hitter

To her credit: A repeat first-team selection, York was still one of the most reliable outside hitters in Manatee County. An ankle injury late in the season derailed both York and the Mustangs' playoff hopes.

Up next: York is part of a strong returning core for Ranch, which which hopes for a return to the playoffs in 2016.

Gabby Coulter, Manatee

Class: Sophomore

Position: Setter

To her credit: Despite missing a month with a concussion, Coulter led the Hurricanes with 428 assists. In 1,003 attempts, she only committed nine setting errors. The sophomore, who started alongside her two sisters, also recorded 26 kills at a 72.2-percent clip and blocked 16 shots.

Up next: Like her twin sister JoJo, Coulter has gone to at least the Class 8A state semifinal in each of her first two years with Manatee. She'll try to make it three straight next season.

Olivia McDaniel, Bradenton Christian

Class: Senior

Position: Libero

To her credit: For a young Panthers team with a first-year coach, McDaniel was a rock at the back of the defense. Among players for teams which inputted their season stats into MaxPreps, the senior finished sixth in the state with 620 digs despite failing to make the region postseason. In 73 sets, McDaniel averaged 8.5 digs per set and 28.2 per match.

Up next: McDaniel has been taking college visits, but hasn't made a commitment yet.
