Manatee man in critical condition after wife pulls him from pool

MANATEE -- A 58-year-old man is fighting for his life after being rescued from a near-drowning by his wife at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at a home in the 3800 block of 35th Avenue Drive West, Bradenton, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The victim and his wife recently moved to Manatee County from Michigan.

The wife told deputies she left the house at about 2:50 p.m., leaving her husband at home with the dog. She returned to find him floating face down in the deep end of the pool.

She pulled her husband out of the pool and called 911. Emergency medical services personnel transported the victim to the hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
