Florida gun bills wrong on many different levels

The politicians in Tallahassee have gone insane. Open carry weapons for the state of Florida? How do they think retirees looking for peaceful paradise and tens of millions of tourists will react to that?

Shoot-out at Disney World (OK, just outside the gates)?

This is a throwback to the 19th century.

Then there is the proposal for guns on university campuses, ground zero for binge drinking, raging hormones and testosterone. Let's arm the kids, unsupervised. Are you serious?

And how about this: Would you walk around with a fistful of $100 bills hanging on your belt? That is what a Glock is worth on the street. A real criminal will see it and take it away from you. Oops.

So legislators, how about this: If you have to take the money from the NRA, let's at least leave the decision county by county; then people can decide where to visit or live. At each county line entry there has to be a very large sign that says "Beware this is (or is not) an open carry weapon county."

As a former Marine with extensive training who served under strict discipline, I know that military bases do not even do this, other than in a war zone. This is not a war zone, but you are trying to turn it into one.
