Bodies of boy and man found in truck in South Miami-Dade

MIAMI --Tuesday night a woman was killed in a Hialeah apartment. Then, an Amber Alert was issued for a missing child who lived in the apartment. Early Wednesday morning a passerby spotted a truck in the woods off U.S. 1 in Florida City, with two bodies inside.

Police haven’t officially confirmed the incidents are related. But they strongly suspect they are and are working to prove it. The truck found off the highway at about Southwest 328th Street matched the description of the Toyota Tundra mentioned in the alert.

It was towed to the Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner’s Office, where detectives will study forensics, try to identify the bodies and determine the cause of death. Miami-Dade Detective Alvaro Zabaleta confirmed the vehicle matches the description in the alert.

But, he said, it was too early to make it official. Not long after the truck was discovered, the Amber Alert was canceled. The alert asked the public to call police if they spotted the car and its occupants: a 6-year-old boy and his father.

Miami Herald news partner CBS 4 identified the missing child as Yoan Sebastian Carlos and said his father as Juan Cantos Padron. Hialeah police have not yet released the name of the woman found dead in the Hialeah apartment complex at 5775 W. 20th Ave.
