Southeast couldn't match its opening-set performance Wednesday in Dunedin and fell 3-0 (26-24, 25-14, 25-22) to the top-seeded Falcons in the Class 5A-District 11 semifinal.
"We made too much mistakes," head coach Denise Schultz said in a phone interview after Wednesday's loss. "They played amazing. They're a tough team."
Outside hitter Marline Valcin led the Seminoles (7-12, 3-5) with eight kills and four digs. Fellow outside hitter Cheyenne Doeberl added four kills and a team-high three blocks. Setter Hannah Crum led the No. 4-seed Noles with 19 assists.
Dunedin (11-7, 6-0) advances to Monday's district championship match at a location to be announced against either Bayshore or Tarpon Springs. The No. 2-seed Bruins host the No. 3-seed Spongers in the district's other semifinal Thursday at 7 p.m. in Bradenton.
BAYSHORE POSTPONED -- Fans looking to see No. 2-seeded Bayshore in the Class 5A-District 11 volleyball semifinals will need to wait an extra day. Due to transportation issues Tuesday, the St. Petersburg Gibbs and Tarpon Springs quarterfinal was pushed to Wednesday. Since the Bruins await the winner of that match in Bradenton, they are being bumped to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bayshore.
The district championship match, which was originally slated for Thursday, is being moved to next Monday at a site to be determined.
