‘In less than two seconds, my puppy was gone’: Video catches alligator in the act

A Florida man is mourning the loss of a puppy that got summarily snatched by an alligator in Lake Kathryn, Florida, last Thursday.

Surveillance video caught the horrific act on camera, WESH 2 News reports.

The dog’s owner, Dale Barberi, told the station that he came home from work and was unable to find the dog named Mia.

His surveillance cameras solved the mystery. Video footage provided to the station shows the gator sneak up and grab the dog and drag it into the lake.

It also shows the other three dogs waiting in the yard by the water line anxiously for Mia to return.

“He was huge and he was fast. In less than two seconds, my puppy was gone,” Barneri told the station.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was called; a trapper found Mia’s remains in another part of the lake.
