Buchanan comes through for passengers stuck on cruise ship | Letter to the editor

The Bradenton Herald story over the weekend about the Bradenton couple trapped on a cruise ship in the midst of the COVID pandemic really caught my attention.

Admittedly, my initial thought was what were they doing on a cruise to begin with. But then I imagined if it were me or a loved one stuck on that ship and the fear and anxiety that must be permeating the air. Who would you call for help? In this instance the couple got in touch with Congressman Buchanan who did everything from personally contacting the Miami mayor, to reaching out to the couple directly to even ensuring their transportation was covered once they disembarked.

I don’t know all the details but I think it’s fair to say that not every member of Congress would be so attentive to the needs of their constituents. I just want to wish the couple safety and health and want to thank our congressman for helping those in need of it.
